The Right-To-Lifers collected the necessary amount of signatures to bring the decision to a special ballot. A poll suggested that over 45% of voters favored the law, which would have effectively banned abortion. Politicians from both parties backed the amendment to state constitution. The nation waited for the result. A victory would encourage Lifers to expand the law to Ohio, Florida, and South Dakota in 2012. The vote required a simple yes or no vote. There was no 'none of the above' options.
